So we know what works for weight loss and we know what doesn’t…so why do we spend so much money paying for pills that make us sick and give us oily, explosive craps?
Why are we so damn silly?
Well, it depends on how deep down the psychological rabbit hole you want to go. On the surface, one might say it’s pure laziness. On the surface one might be correct but things are usually never as simple as “surface.”
If we dig a little deeper, what’s really at play is our Ego and the attachments/addictions we have to things like food, and our leisure time. Yay, Ego…again.
Just about everything is Ego.
We don’t want to give up the foods we love (because cause we “love” them) and we don’t want to give up our leisure time because we love it too.
Promise that’s all I’ll talk about the ego this time around.
I don’t want to give up Snickers Peanut Butter Bites because I love them.
But do I really? No, not really.
Funny how we use the word “love” to describe our feelings about food the same way we use it to describe our feelings about the things that are actually worthy of our love like family, friends, etc.
And hey, I get it. After an 8 hour workday you want to get home, eat dinner and veg out. I do too.
But if you want to loose weight and you do have the time to workout…why not workout?
Yeah, sometimes its sweaty, and hot, and sometimes it’s miserable, and heavy and stinky and it’s work! But MOST of the time it’s fun and sweaty, and heavy, and amazing, and uplifting, and inspiring, and stinky and it’s ALWAYS transformational.
Those “quick fix” pills we take destroy our immune and cardiovascular systems and wreck havoc on our metabolism. So even if they do help us loose some weight we’re stuck with the damage they cause and we always eventually gain the weight back plus more.
Exercise + proper nutrition are the ONLY scientifically proven “weight loss” methods that will help us loose weight, make us healthier in the process and help us keep the weight off.
It’s not the “easy way”… it is the ONLY way and you know that too.
But I don’t know how to work out?
There are beginner classes at just about every gym. Find one and start. If you can’t find one, find a Trainer in your price range and start. They want your money so they’re gonna train you according to your schedule.
But I don’t know how to cook proper nutrition.
Hey, I watched a good friend go from cooking one skillet atrocities (sorry, bruh) to becoming a veritable Chef De Cuisine in one summer. And if he can learn, you can too.
Make it fun for yourself. If you have picky eaters for kids, make it fun for them too. Let them help you cook. There are all kinds of easy, healthy and delicious recipes out there. Your local Co-Op will have information on those plus there’s always Google.
Your health and fitness are only a choice away. Choose wisely.
